Are you new to pickleball?
Then you're in the right place! Pickleball is a great active sport for men and women of all ages. The best way to get started is by attending Mesa Somer's "Free Intro to Pickleball" class. Mesa is a USA Pickleball Ambassador for the Durham area. You will be taught the rules and basic techniques of the sport. And, of course, you will have the opportunity to play with other people who are also learning the sport. The class is normally held on Sundays at 1:30 pm at Piney Wood Park, and beginner play follows at 3:00 pm. However, class is not held every Sunday, so you should contact Mesa (firstname.lastname@example.org) before attending a class, or if you have any questions about the class. Wear comfortable clothes to the class and bring water. Pickleball paddles will be available for those people who do not yet have their own paddle.
Also, Durham Parks and Recreation holds numerous "Introduction to Pickleball" clinics at Durham area courts. Note that there is a fee to attend these clinics. You will need to sign up for a clinic with Durham Parks and Recreation in order to attend. Clinic dates and times can be found on the Durham Pickleball Calendar.
